Athens

"There are at least one million illegal immigrants in Athens" somebody told me. Indeed, it looked like a massive slum. Dried and poor, and vigorous and vulgar. Excessive traffic and dust. I liked it immidiately. As all of poor places which tries to look posh or such seems ridiculous and funny at the same time, this city was not an exception. This city was like a plain plant that has grown too much and already gone out of control, but no spell of rotting.
I walked around the areas like Omonia and Gazi again and again, immigrants ghetto and another chaos, Gaudy make-ups upon desolation. That was my impression on Athens. As i had a camera, I tried to construct a city by photos collecting fragments of moments of life into an album indicating how people civilize and live. I shot within a month. shooting was not easy, because everybody was criminal there so that, immigrants, restaurant staffs, and police are hiding away from the camera, or hissing at me or grab me, but some are flatterd. I enjoyed a lot.

Architecture of Society

My aim for this series is to present photos of architectures and streets of cities in order to capture how people live in a civilaization in certain place, ultimate still life. Signs which run from left to right, from up to down, without limit in design and language. Jet black electric cables hanging in messacross entire Japan is strangely representation of people' s aimlessness and
chaos for me. A castle full of brothels and electric poles. Kyoto, Japan is my home where most of photos here are shot. Although the area of the district is not big, there is something to say in how inhabitants behave to construct these perticular buildings, signs and scenes.
And this mess is the one I am fond of Japan.
